some thoughts on "civil" society

If Gandhiji did not drink but he is a hero, if you do not drink you face questions, "are you religious?". If Adi Shankara was a vegetarian it made him a saint, if you are vegetarian it is not any "more civilised". Jesus loved; do not follow it! You will be labeled timid. Do not tell the truth! You will look like a stupid!

Himalayan yogis smoke they are anubhaavis (ascetics?!) Buddha is an epitome of nonviolance while most buddhists are nonvegetarian. Meat eating majority on the other hand forms most of the "civil" society! I mean meat eating alcohol drinking class is more civilised and progressive, if you are not with them your are conservative. Saint Shishunala sharif drank country liquor shankari (his teacher a brahmin taught him that)

Yajnkvalkya an ancient philosopher and the author of the ancient laws Yajnyavalkya smruti ate beef! Meat eating Hindus won't! Eastern philosophy is mystic; Greek philosophy is majestic. Now blonde Jesus was a semite. There are so many Hindu gods that it is not even possible to figure them out! I read a text book of Music History. It categorises early Indian classical music as, I quote "uncivilised music".

"civil" society is at best a bastard of reason and hypocrisy.

when tabali sings

when tabli sings s/he does not know raaga anyway so no hopes there. but because he has to sing he looses taala. now i tried both..

here are my recordings (i used my headset do not complain)

Yam Brahma Varunendra (A prayer from Bhagvadgeeta)
Ganesha Atharvashirsha Mantra (A Vedic hymn)
Nambide Ninna Solo (A song from movie Sandhya Raaga)
Nambide Ninna with Tabla Loop (!)

there are lot of mistakes please adjust maadkolli! otherwise go listen to the originals. You will not find the original for the first one !:)

a need as a casue for noninfectious chronic physiological disorders

after careful thought i hypothesize that "need" is the primary cause for irreversible physiological changes, causing noninfectious chronic physiological disorders. to summarize the implications of such a behaviour, the following can be said:

a) disorders such as, diabetes, arthritis, cancer, asthma, and mental illness are caused not only by genetic predisposition but by a need for certain physiological condition (a concrete example will follow).

b) the need could be a result of environmental factors, genetic factors or other disorders in the body.

c) it is thus possible to prevent chronic diseases by carefully researching the need and satisfying the need or by removing conditions causing the need.

i am presenting a concrete example using diabetes as an example.

if a person has stones in kidneys, one of the ways body can get rid of the stone is by needing more fluids. by creating an artificial dehydration body can make us consume more water for example. how can dehydration be created? there could be other ways, but we do not know how a particular mechanism is chosen. it may so happen that dehydration can be caused by polyuria (making us to piss more). again one of the ways to create polyuria is to increase blood sugar. if the body can increase sugar levels it can cause dehydration by preventing kidney from retaining water. prominent way to increase blood sugar is to kill beta cells there by stopping insulin production or producing delta cell tumor causing increased somatostatin production inhibiting insluin production. delta cells will not help much because they only decrease insulin production . this can happen in anyway killing beta cells (type 1) or inducing resitance to insulin(type 2) are effective in increasing blood sugar and there by causing dehydration. there could be antidiuretic hormone deficiency causing more pissing. the point is this results in some chronic condition including diabetes.

simply put a kidney stone may cause diabetes because kidney stone needs dehydration and diabetes is one of the ways to create dehydration (polydipsia). i am not aware of mechanism that is responsible for choosing a particular mechanism for causing a particular condition. but i only speculate that genetic predisposition might influence such a selection. for people who are not predisposed body might have to choose a reversible mechanism or an irreversible mechanism of the other kind causing other chronic condition such as insipidus (antipissing hormone deficiency).

thus to satisfy a need body panics and initiates a mechanism. if we are unlucky (read the choice happens to be) the mechanism might be irreversible causing a chronic condition.

similarly i am willing to argue that cancer is caused by a need for increased number of particular cells. which initiates an unknown irreversible mechanism causing uncontrollable cell division.

i searched if my intuition can find some support in medical lit. indeed there are several research results supporting my claim. i will cite them here when i find time. till them medicine people this should give you several research problems. go find out :)

Thanks to Prabhakara Medihala for explaining some physiology stuff so a computist can understand it.

[1] lack of water in brain causes increased blood sugar
[2] treatment of kidney stone might cause diabetes
[3] i did not find any study that says.. kidney stone causes diabetes... :) people do a survey......

Sanskrit Vs English

we both are Ind0-Europian languages. but the similarity blows me away. i encounter many words that resemble Sanskrit counterparts. i am listing some of them. i will add as i see more. these are apart from the well known mother, father, brother, sugar.

Sanskrit/variations - English
bandha - bond
vinasha - vanish
gachha - go
tat - that
aham - i am
naama - name
barbara- barbaric
manu - man
na - no
threeni - three
asta - octo
sapta - seven
mama - my

i will add more when i hear them...
there is a lot of similarity between upsargas and prefix and sufix in English.

i recited Yambrahma Varunendra Marutaha for fun. i have spit the compounds (sandhi) it sounds cooler than the regular version (listen here).

Chaos Theory

here is a chaos engine. (click it, it is interesting, you lazy X!) this is called the Lorenzian Water Wheel after Edward Lorenz a scientist who died few days ago. hiking lovers, he went hiking days before he died! hey you haters, he did not die becasue of hiking! fun aside, i could not find his paper "Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil set off a Tornado in Texas?". if you find it pass it to me.

read wikipedia for chaos theory. it is about determinism in seemigly random behaviour which are drastically affected by initial conditions. the famous butterfly effect is here.

this equation defines the butterfly:

do not run away. becasue like others (i mean programer who show a piece of source code and scare others) mathematicians make things difficult by drawing crazy symbols. they are simple most of the times. the equations describe how (x, y, z), the position describing something (a dynamic system) changes with time t. when x,y,z for different t and with some value for weights meta keta peta (i mean greek letters!) are pllotted, resulting structure defines a dynamic system such as the water wheel. it is called the Lorenz Attractor. (another name huh?)

although i never loved solving differential equations one thing i loved is to declare that the name is a misnomer. it should have been relations of rate change. they are all about the relatives of changing things!

more precisiely, a "rate change relation" is a relation between a relation that is supposed to be discovered and rate at which this unknown relation changes. at the end we will get a relation that has the relation described by the "rate change relation" (differential eqaution).

chaos theory is used in weather prediction. as of today it is known that weather prediction beyond 8 days is not reasonable due to the behaviour inherent to the weather system. knowledge of initial conditions are not of much help they say. but my interest stops there.

chaos killed him. i'm sorry, actually, cancer killed Edward Lorenz. wait! i mean chaotic behaviour of cell division! was i right when i said chaos killed him?

is drinking alcohol progressive?

the author of an article in Outlook India proudly explained how he consumed alcohol while trying to tell the story of journalism in Outlook India. Not only was it irrelevant, but only served the purpose of showing him a "progressive" individual.

i am fed up with the people who tell me that drinking alcohol is a sign of progress! a professor here explained me about lefties. drinking and non vegetarianism is considered a sign of progressive people in India where both are considered "not good". in North America however, being vegan is associated with lefties where it is not a norm. these lefties mistake progress for difference. to be a progressive minded individual, one neither has to be a non-vegetarian and/or a drunkard but irrespective of their habits one has to be progressive in the real sense of the word.

how many agree if i say that taking drugs (hash/heroin) is a sign of progress? hash is legal in the Netherlands. they sell them(only in some pubs) like alcohol selling in America(only in liquor stores). drugs only damage head; alcohol also damages liver. governaments spend millions to ask people not to drive when they are drunk and yet most accidents happen because of drunk driving. real progress in deed! now, how can people say drinking alcoholic beverages is progressive when they do not consider drugs a sign of progress? to put it in plain, simple English, these "left-liberals" follow the "principle of convenience". if you like drinking drink it; if you like doing what others do not do because of religion/culture/tradtion, do it. but do not tell me it is becasue you are progressive.

not drinking and not eating meat is hard. i go hungry in many airports when they can not even give a bun and cheese while they conveniently stuff in meat in between and sell them. "no veggie burger sir!", they are not even sorry. forget about cultural non-conformance, nothing they do is physically hard.

my uncle told me a funny thing about society: we have more police outposts, more old age homes, and more hospitals in our town than we did before, our town is progressing! more crime, more children not caring for their parents and more diseases can not reflect progress. this is digress.

but the "progressive" people have made the life/maths easier now; just count the holes in their liver, you will know how developed your society is! easy in deed!

An example for currupt researchers

A paper in the American Journal of Epidemiology written by Jarmo Virtamo and his clique from Finland, says that "Drinking Beer Reduces the Risk of Kidney Stones".

Even a dumb ass like me would immeditely ask a question. Did the study test the subjects against the same amount of water? Even a kid knows dehydration is the primary casue of renal calculus (renal calculus is a term medicos use, to make sure others do not understand them. engineers and lawyers and almost everyone uses this trick to hold on to their job!). So, any study should make sure that general fluid intake will not confound the factor under investigation.

Now, read the paper. Look at the page 188, 2nd Column, First Paragraph, Last two lines. It reads "... other than water per se, since
drinking water was not included in the questionnaire.".

What they said in those brief phrases is another way of saying that, "the alcohol bevarage idustry paid us to produce these results". What about the reviewers in the AJE? How many gallons of acetylecholines should be running in their heads to accept this study? Or was it just a few tins of free Stella Atwa thrown at them to make them publish this "research".

Hey progressive people, and liberals born in the dust filled libraries, do not cite this paper! Go out and get a life!!!

not voting? your place is in hell

Are you a Software Engineer? It is most likely that your name is not in the voters list. There are high chances that you goto a picnic on election day.
Yamaraja telephoned me to say that he has boiling oil ready for all the softies, in the hell. Fun aside! If your name is not in the list.. stand up wo/men and get counted. If we do not vote we should not complain should we? If we are irresponsible how can we ask others to be responsible?
Get your id here if you have not.

I will lose an oppurtunity to vote in general elections this May for the first time after I was 18.

How are you today?

I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be "happy." I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be honorable, to be compassionate. It is, above all, to matter: to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all.

Spring of the Sarvadhārin (Sarvadhari)

Indian mythology explains that there were many sons to Brahma, the creator. Years are named after 60 of them. This year starting on April 7th, is named after Sarvadhārin. According to one of the Hindu calendars, this year is 1930 SE (Saka Era); an era named after the emperor Shalivahana.

India traditionally has six seasons: Spring (Vasanta), Summer (Greeshma), Monsoon (Varsha), Preautumn (Sharad), Autumn (Hemanta), and Winter (Shishira). Spring starts on the first day of the year. (VaGriVaShaHeShi)

Happy New Year 1930 SE.

how to make rotti

Look at them aussom rottis. Me and Manju made them tonight. We will explain how this can be made easily and in no time.

Preparing the dough
----------------------
add few pinches of salt to whole wheat flour
add cold water and knead till the dough is smooth
keep the dough for 20 minutes

Making the rotti
----------------------
make dough balls each of the size of a lemon
roll the dough balls flat, using the wheat flour, use no oil
bake both the sides of the rolled dough on a pan until it looks like the picture above
put the half baked rotti on a mesh and hold closely above the heater
see it bulge like a poori

get ready to eat. This is the way rotti is made by Havyakas of Sagara region in Karnataka. I have not seen anyone else make rotti like this. i guess many would make rotti this way. this can be made in 30 minutes and tastes great.

Ragu and Manju

Watch this animation to see how dough is prepared.

good luck girl

everything except marriage is Made in China. we know where the marriages are made! why are marriages made in heaven? just for a change; we will immediately have to go to hell anyway! my grandfather once famously asked a man, "they said someone's wife ran away. you are that fella right?". a wife is much more complex to explain than a life, more experienced have told me. in short, on a serious note, and more reasonably, marriage is a complex relationship.

i was 18 and one day wished a girl good luck in her final exams. my friend next to me asked, what would look like a strange question. "why do not you consider marrying her?" he had asked. a decade ago i was not even sure of what that would really mean. everyone knows what marriage is; i knew when i was five! i knew exactly what it was! it was a women from some other village coming and living with a another family like ours so that a boy like me could come out of the women's bellybutton. that is what my mother told me. i had asked my mother, "where did i come from!". not much has changed in how i understand marriage! there is more detail to it and about where i come from, i was off by only 3/4 of a feet. not just that, i knew very well that my parents were lying when they said, i was dancing in front of the band, in their marriage! but knowing what a relation is and appreciating the magnitude of a relation are two different things.

a school junior of mine had a baby in her hand when i saw her last. i was in the college trying to get a degree. she had asked me, "you still in school?". yes, i am still in school after many years. a decade passed by since my friend's comment. my friend is looking. i am looking and the good luck girl is getting engaged. i have to tell her the same thing again: good luck.
